That is possible.  I have some things that follow Gentoo specifics but that
doesn't include vim or nano.  I don't think it is important enough to worry
about especially considering your latest success.

Speaking for myself, I plan to keep using vim with WeBeBashing for my fidonet
posting pleasure.  I think nano makes an excellent editor for an online BBS,
especially if the LANG variable can be customized on a per user basis.  I plan
to try that next.  Please stay tuned.
