I apply;
sed -i 's/ \x0d/ /g' $msg
where $msg is the temp file nano operates on. It gets applied just after
exiting nano and returns control to the main shell script (the BBS in your
case). Once I exit WeBeBashing any temporary messages ($msg) have the ftn msg
header crap attached and then are exported to the pkt header function for final
packing before sending them off to the uplink.
Anyhow the sed line only affects lines that are part of the same paragraph
which results in unbounded paragraphs which is what we're after. Of course
this is only needed when I use nano and is not needed for vim which knows
better. ;-)
