[24d/05m/95y]: Jean Parrot to Duncan Mccormack
JP> Congrats, you got it, you defend it.

JP> What in the world did you do to that sloop, BM?
All *I* did, was *watch* it, matey :-)
I'm dissapointed that Team NZ wants to hold the next cup so far away
('nother 5 years).
For the next cup, I'd like to see a real revolutionary dude by the
name of John Britten (lives here in Christchurch) put some of his
technology into a defenders's boat. This guy built the Britten
motorcycle that cleans up the Dukes every year these days at Daytona
(battle of the twins). This bike is built with kevlar. It has a
frame made with kevlar reinforcing (he's patented the technique - I
believe (and already sold the rights to ? manufacturer)). I'm sure he
could help a defender boat get lighter and still retain strength.
(You didn't happen to see what happenned to Australia One by any chance,
did you?)
Of course a string of jokes did the circuit in New Zealand...
What goes down faster than a beer (in Australia) - Australia One.
What's the difference between a teabag and Australia One - a teabag
stays in the cup longer.
The Aussies are of course, also world class yachties. Infact, I
reckon Australia One was the second fastest boat there - and also
would've beaten Dennis's boat. And I'd say Chris Dickson's boat (the
other NZ boat) would've come in third. Dennis might've scrapped a
forth - but he'd be lucky - lot's of the challenger boats were fast.
There was no doubt that Team NZ's boat, Black Magic, stood out from
all the rest (the challengers and defenders included), but I have no
information to tell you that could indicate why.
Starboard!!! Duncan (Christchurch, New Zealand)
