Hi Tim.  Not that I'm trying to create an argument here, but I was reading 
you message, and I am just wondering why you find jazz to be "so pointless".  
I am also a drummer, I find jazz to be the only style of music which gives me 
total self expression on my instrument.  Styles like rock...etc, are good to, 
but you are limited to how creative you can be, as there are set guidelines.  
But with jazz, you are free to be as creative as you want.  If you happen to 
mess up, it just makes the music all that much more tasteful.  I feel it adds 
character to the music of jazz when a trumpeter plays one note a semi-tone 
out of tune.  I feel that same way about the drums.  Jazz is basically a "ho 
holds barred" style of music.  Please remember I am not trying to argue with 
you over this.  Everyone has their own different tastes.  So get back to me.
