Because i use squish-style only, i can't really help you. But for
squish-style msgbases the first thing to do is a backup of the damaged
echoarea and a re-build of the index data. That does the
"hptsqfix" tool for squish-style echoareas.

Maybe there is something like that for jam-style msgbases.

I had trouble with squish-style if using different Operating Systems,
echoareas created by OS/2 squish had trouble with smapi/lnx and golded/lnx.
Newly created echomails got lost after restarting golded/lnx. That was 2004
versions, i don't know how actual stable-RC does.
