Its an interpretation of what "reveal codes" means. Yes, seeing paragraph
marks and tabs visibly is essential and available in Word. Wordperfect added
that feature in Version 6.0. But "reveal codes" in Wordperfect shows far
more information than is needed in Word. Things like bold and underline are
visible in the document with no need to see a leading and trailing internal
"code". How about things like table of contents marks? I've seen lots of
Wordperfect documents get tied up in knots because someone got the trailing
TOC mark buried deep into the document text somewhere. Its very, very
tedious. I used to be viewed as a genius because I could decipher all the
codes and fix a document that was hopelessly wrecked by errantly misplaced
codes.
Every single one of our support staff who anguished over the loss of "reveal
codes" has long since forgotten what they were or why they need them.
By the way, the one single feature we miss terribly from WordPerfect is the
ability to put portrait headers and footers on a landscape oriented page.
Landscape headers and footers are just plain dumb.
