You will also find that the Dial tone / busy tone recognition of your

modem may well be perfectly OK when used on some exchanges in Australia,

Just as I found when I recently had my lines changed over to the new S12

echange (no service tone recognition at all now) and on the previous

exchange I had it all except sometimes the STD pips would show themselves

as busy.

I have not altered my modems at all and yet all service tones are seen

perfectly from my present location (this week)...(older exchange type)

I suggest you leave your modem set for ATX4 and take it to a friends place

to test their exchange type. You could be worrying when its not your fault

but Telstra's.
