Now here's something cute I caught on PBS tonight...

Every year, the WHO (World Health Organization) runs predictions and models
of various diseases, epidemics, etc. around the world. In 1995, they
predicted that
by 2000, Brazil would have 1.2 million AIDS cases... they didn't count on Brazil
getting smart, because by the time 2000 rolled around, Brazil had less than half
that number of cases.

How'd they do it?

Just the way you'd think they did... methods that would easily work in the U.S.,
if conservatives and religious jerks would pull their heads out of their asses.

They did it by distributing free condoms, distributing 3 different
anti-viral drugs (for free) to patients, and by blunt and truthful (and
somewhat explicit) television ads, telling people - of all genders and
sexual habits, including ads
aimed directly at homosexuals of all types - to use condoms, and the
dangers of not using condoms.

Gee, simple intelligence... hello, Washington... .
