Couple of less significant differences are a front panel provision for crystal 
controlling the transmitter and a separate VOX delay control for CW.  All the side 
controls and jacks of the B are moved to a small panel that covers the formerly open 
above chassis area on the back.   The Carrier oscillator crystal will phase
lock with 
the receiver BFO crystal for transceive, but only with the R-4C.

The R-4B and R-4C are considerably different receivers, and the only transmitter 
preference is whichever one matches the receiver you prefer.
