Just to reiterate, there is /no/ reason for the Alberta Auditor General to
investigate where the 400 million bucks for mad cow relief went. Although
the cows are mad, one must realize that these things take a lot of
paperwork and departmental comittees to ensure that the money is
distributed where we want it to... er, that is to say, where it /ought/ to
be distributed.

That little 200% profit increase by the meat packers while the farmers were
paid cut-rate prices for their cattle, and while Safeway still charged
rediculous prices for their beef has /nothing/ to do with the relief
package. We don't have any need to investigate because we don't need to
prove that.

In closing, I suggest it's best that everyone forget about the whole thing,
and talk to the Americans about opening their borders, so that we can sweep
this little incident behind us. If anyone doesn't like doing that, then
maybe I'll call an election tomorrow so that I can completely wipe out all
traces of political opposition in Alberta.
