Today I asked someone at work about this (who has Linux), and apparently it
translates dos interrupts into X-windows calls. He also pointed out that I
had left out one component - the master boot record, which is 449 bytes
long. I think it will help give me a better understanding of PCs if I
attempt to replace the MBR myself (on floppy of course). I think it may
even be possible to write it in 32-bit C (obviously I don't use any
runtime, just the generated assembler).
I'll post a tutorial on the way this hangs together, so that people can
correct it. BFN.
