apparently you need to figure out how to tell nano what character set to use
when reading/writing messages... msged was good when tobias had it but it
really screwed up a lot of other things when that other fella came along and
started mucking about with the control lines and his "SOT" EOT" mess...

as for html encoding? GAK! Puke! no thanks... we have enough problems with
unicode and it is much better than html encoding which i'm going to assume you
