From: "Bob May" To: "atmlist" Reply-To: "Bob May" The shorter FL scope will usually allow for wider fields of view at any particular EP size than the longer scope will. If you are more interested in looking at some of the larger structures in the sky (the average scope has serious trouble with M101 for example) as opposed to seeing the details on the planets. The actual focal length is actually a bit more important as the magnification obtained easily is sort of determined by that and the actual limit on the magnification is largely dependent upon the objective's diameter (the Airy disc is determined by that measurement) Bob May http://nav.to/bobmay bobmay{at}nethere.com NEW! http://bobmay.astronomy.net --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-4* Origin: Email Gate (1:379/100) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 379/100 1 10/345 106/1 2000 633/267 |
