DH> The thing that really bugs me about folks like Reno, Clinton,
DH> Shalala, and company, is that every last one of them have spent
DH> their entire lives in government service, and yet they believe
DH> that they know what is best for businesses which by definition,
DH> work nothing like the government.
They are also totally clueless about the other facets of life -- the
struggles, the challenges, the ups, the downs, etc. for those who live
ordinary lives, unsupported by the bureaucratic safety net where many
jobs are protected -- no matter how incompetent the person is -OR- if
the position is totally unnecessary, but the government bloat refuses
to touch yet another sacred cow that is bleeding the taxpayers dry!
Another thing about that jackass, Klinton... He has NEVER owned a home
-- he's ALWAYS lived at the largesse of the taxpayer. How can he claim
to represent the common man -- especially when the American Dream is to
own your own home -- without experiencing firsthand the responsibility &
struggle of affording a home, then affording all the blasted property
taxes & all the other taxes that make it a REAL struggle to put a roof
over one's head & those of your family? He's totally clueless about how
difficult it is to REALLY provide for a family, on a REAL salary (But he
can afford $200 haircuts)... This isn't "class envy" -- it is simply an
observation that he has no clue how REAL people live and struggle with
the tax burdens he & his blood-sucking peers have foist upon us...
About houses... I doubt I'll ever live in a house. Even with a GI loan,
my husband and I could never afford one, not even a mobile home. While
we might be able to squeak by with payments on something in one of the
ghettos (if I was insane & desperate), we still could not do it because
we could not afford property taxes (we live frugally & never have enough
money even for the basics -- I'm in desperate need of new clothes as
everything I own is falling apart, but I just can't justify the expense
right now). I'm not complaining & thinking the government should help me
out -- but I am complaining about the taxes that eat up so much of our
paltry income.
One last complaint: inheritance taxes... another excuse to rifle though
a dead taxpayer's pockets & to rob his/her heirs of what little most
folks leave behind... I don't know what the government skims off of an
inheritance, but I'm sure I won't be able to afford any taxes on what
little my father is leaving to me when he passes away (which I hope is a
LONG, LONG, LONG way off). I suppose I'll be forced to sell my mother's
50 y.o. fur coat & her engagement ring just to avoid the IRS hauling me
away... I've heard that there is talk of reducing or abolishing the
inheritance taxes -- but that, like any other "promise" of tax relief,
will always be taken by me with a huge grain of salt and washed down
with a large glass of skepticism...
Those who make a CAREER of "PUBLIC SERVICE" have NO CLUE about the PUBLIC
-- and the ONLY people they TRULY serve is THEMSELVES... sigh...
Sorry if I got up on a BIG soapbox... ;-)
