Not quite.
The anonymous remailer can track the ID number of the message itself

The oldest most popular anonymous remailer - anon.penet.fi, I think -
was in Finland. The owner of the remailer decided to shut down
operations when the Church of Scientology obtained a court order forcing
him to reveal who had sent one particular piece of e-mail. Feeling he
couldn't guarantee complete anonynimity, he preferred shutting down.
The event made the CBC news.
