I am running a NW4.11 network w/2 7-bay cd-rom towers; 1 att'd to server
using NLM, 1 as a server under my NDS tree. Unfortunately, the disks have
to be changed frequently, and the disk names change with every update.
Although I keep the volume names the same in order to avoid rewriting my
script every time, I still haven't found a way around deleting the volume
and recreating it using the new disk name, which means reassigning rights,
etc. I have one user - who is identical to all of the other users as far as
I can see, and who is a member of the same group - who will INVARIABLY not
be able to map to at least one volume (although I can manually map the drive
through Win95). This volume can be on either tower, doesn't seem to matter.
Occasionally I have corrected this by deleting trustees and reassigning;
several times I have had to delete and recreate the volume(s) before he was
allowed access. I'm obviously missing something somewhere, but what? Plus,
I really don't understand why deleting the group as a trustee from the
volume(s), then adding the group back on again will sometimes correct the
problem.
