| subject: | Compiling husky: no rules |
Hola All :) My node has huskysoft happily working away for a year and a half now :) Trouble is: some kind soul installed and configured it for me :( :) Now I'm trying to learn how to do it myself and be able to teach my points and other nodes to install it and use it. But I have failed on the first step :( Make does not find any rules. > Details: Info on system: uname -a Linux aguacate 2.6.8-2-386 #1 Mon Jan 24 03:01:58 EST 2005 i686 GNU/Linux gcc --version gcc (GCC) 4.0.1 (Debian 4.0.1-2) Copyright (C) 2005 Free Software Foundation, Inc. make --version GNU Make 3.80 Copyright (C) 2002 Free Software Foundation, Inc. >What I did: - I put source packages from sourceforge in /home/phil/husky14 and decompressed each: drwxr-xr-x 7 phil phil 4096 2006-04-22 14:43 bsopack -rw-r--r-- 1 phil phil 25706 2006-08-19 21:56 bsopack-1.4.0-rc5.tar.gz drwxr-xr-x 5 phil phil 4096 2006-04-22 14:38 fidoconf -rw-r--r-- 1 phil phil 259164 2006-08-19 21:56 fidoconf-1.4-rc5.tar.gz drwxr-xr-x 10 phil phil 4096 2006-04-22 15:02 hpt -rw-r--r-- 1 phil phil 373304 2006-08-19 21:57 hpt-1.4-rc5.tar.gz drwxr-xr-x 6 phil phil 4096 2006-02-26 17:47 hptkill -rw-r--r-- 1 phil phil 17230 2006-08-19 21:58 hptkill-1.12-rc5.tar.gz drwxr-xr-x 7 phil phil 4096 2005-06-08 20:00 hptsqfix -rw-r--r-- 1 phil phil 17934 2006-08-19 21:58 hptsqfix-1.4-rc5-1.tar.gz drwxr-xr-x 7 phil phil 4096 2005-06-08 20:00 hpucode -rw-r--r-- 1 phil phil 28641 2006-08-19 21:59 hpucode-1.4-rc5-tar.gz drwxr-xr-x 16 phil phil 4096 2005-12-16 19:25 htick -rw-r--r-- 1 phil phil 122481 2006-08-19 22:00 htick-1.4-rc5.tar.gz drwxr-xr-x 6 phil phil 4096 2006-04-22 15:30 huskmisc -rw-r--r-- 1 phil phil 9059 2006-08-19 22:00 huskmisc-1.4-rc5.tar.gz -rw-r--r-- 1 phil phil 43627 2006-08-19 21:44 huskybase-1.4-tar.gz drwxr-xr-x 4 phil phil 4096 2006-08-21 13:48 huskybse -rw-r--r-- 1 phil phil 7377 2006-08-21 14:09 huskymak.cfg drwxr-xr-x 7 phil phil 4096 2006-02-17 19:56 msged -rw-r--r-- 1 phil phil 489378 2006-08-19 22:02 msged-6.2RC1-stable-src.tgz drwxr-xr-x 8 phil phil 4096 2005-06-08 20:00 nltools -rw-r--r-- 1 phil phil 49000 2006-08-19 22:02 nltools-1.4-rc5.tar.gz drwxr-xr-x 3 phil phil 4096 2006-08-21 14:10 smapi -rw-r--r-- 1 phil phil 179989 2006-08-19 22:03 smapi-2.4-rc5.tar.gz drwxr-xr-x 3 phil phil 4096 2005-06-08 20:00 sqpack -rw-r--r-- 1 phil phil 25482 2006-08-19 22:04 sqpack-1.4-rc5.tar.gz - copied huskymak.cfg from smapi/debian directory to the top level directory /home/phil/husky14 - did not change anything in the huskymak.cfg so as to leave per default and because /usr/local is fine with me (I presume that "and change all values according to your needs" means that if I do not change anything compilation should work fine). - as root (to avoid possible access errors) I cd to smapi and type # make clean make: *** No hay ninguna regla para construir el objetivo `clean'. Alto. (There's no rule to build object "clean". Stop.) I try # make all install make: *** No hay ninguna regla para construir el objetivo `all'. Alto. I've also tried copying huskymak.cfg.debian to top directory renaming it huskymak.cfg. No luck. I've gone through the INSTALL file from top to bottom (as well as any other doc I've found) and figured that since I'm using a Debian Linux I should not need to use the legacy makefiles method. My Points will never get as far as I've got. I imagine that this must be a simple problem with the compiler or path, or some lib. But I'm not that skilled in linux to investigate further. I'm no programmer. I have compiled things in this system before flawlessly, so much so that I am not familiar with the details of compěling. I just have used it. If there a debian package that I can apt-get install from some repository ;?) If I am able to finally install a point with husky software I am prepared to translate/write some guide/howto for people like me who dono not compile things every day. But I have to understand it first. Felipe :) --- GoldED+/LNX 1.1.5* Origin: El Zoco BBS, COrdoba, Espa-na, UE, Tierra, Sol, VL.
