Your thoughts on the memory hog of Netscape are valid, I really should
be on a 486 to run it, I'm sure. I think I figured out how to change
the init string in Netscape, through the modem.ini file in the
dialer\apps directory. The manual suggests a AT&F2 rather than a AT&F1
so I am using that. As for the lights, yes, the SD and RD lights are
dimmer. My old PP9600SA just worked so much better. The OH and PWR
lights are sort of bright. I can see them at a glance. How do I send
my modem configuration in a message? I've seen it on here but don't
know how they did it. Right now I'm using AT&F2 X4 L3 W2 S95=32 S11=60
in both telix and Netscape. Good point too about the 28800
connection...I don't know. I sometimes forget that you always get a
full 288 connection. I'll make sure I get one then try a download and
see what kind of speed I'm getting. But it was my feeling that I should
get between 3200 and 3400 CPS. Thanks for verifying that for me. And
thanks for the prompt reply!
Ron
