Yeah, IF he could find one of those elusive connectors!  :-)

He sent me the schematic of the receiver, and it looks like a single 
transistor, a resistor and a 9V battery will "invert" the Mute line.  
The battery would last a year or more, probably shelf life.

If he can find a connector, or mod the AC-4 for an RCA that would 
certainly work.   Assuming he doesn't want to use an amp!
