Since BC4 can create Dos EXEs, Win EXEs, and Win DLLs, it needs to know what "target" it is compiling for. This target info, along with options like memory model, is set up in the Project area. Hit the Make button without a project set up, and I guess you get the default setup, which is most likely a Win EXE.
