TAB: Heartbreaker (DooDooDooDooDoo)-Rolling Stones
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Heartbreaker (Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo) - Rolling Stones (Jagger/Richards)
from Goat*s Head Soup, 1972 (73?)
Its not difficult to play, a wah pedal helps for intro and choruses,
but isnt essential. If theres a trick to making this sound like the
Stones, it*s the strum patterns, and kind of a funk style for the
verses. I made some notes below about the chords and tried to show (in
tab) how to play the funky strokes for the verses.
Intro:
Chords - E G C E (play twice)
verse 1:
Em7
Police in New York City
Am (variation) Em
Chased a boy right through the park.
Em7
In a case of mistaken identity
Am (variation) Em
They put a bullet through his heart.
chorus:
E G
Heartbreaker with your .44
C E
I wanna tear your world apart (see chorus riff, below)
(repeat)
verse 2:
Ten year old girl on the street corner
Stick a needle in her arm.
She died in the dirt of the alleyway.
Her mother said she had no chance, no chance.
chorus:
Heartbreaker, heartbreaker
She stuck a pin(?) right in her heart.
Heartbreaker, painmaker
Stuck a soul (?) right in your heart.
Oh yeah (Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo)
Oh yeah (Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo)
I wanna tear this world apart...
(repeat with variations on this phrase)
Chord definitions in order EADGBE:
Em7 = x79787 (barre chord, Am7 shape at 7th fret)
Am (variation) = 575555
Em, E, G, and C are played as standard open chords.
The strokes I use in verses, as best I can write *em:
KEY: d=downstroke u=upstroke
h=hammer on p=pull off
(in the Em7, the notes you hammer are on the B and D strings)
Em7
d u d d h u d u d
E -7--7-7--7-7--10-10--7-7--- (keep index finger barre at 7th
B -8--8-8--7-8---7--7--8-8--- fret throughout this figure;
G -7--7-7--7-7---7--7--7-7--- play this twice for each
D -9--9-9--7-9---7--7--9-9--- line of verse shown as Em7)
A -7--7-7--7-7---------7-7---
