subject: IS FIDONET FATALLY ILL?

Thanks a bunch for your thoughts about this matter. You made some
very good points about your reasons for believing Fido will survive
this latest illness. I especially liked this comment.
TR>> Sysops are an addictive lot who seem to really enjoy doing
TR>> this stuff even at a financial loss. That is probably the #1
TR>> reason, regardless of anything else.
This is definitely true of every SYSOP with whom I have had contact.
They are fierce in their dedication to Fido.

TR>>Why 2 lines?
Because I saved time by saving the text of my "fatally ill" message
and bringing it back into each new message I wrote that night on this
subject and forgot on this one to delete the tag from the original one
I wrote. I was really upset by that article and so I put the same basic
inquiry in all the Fido echoes in which I participate. I have been
getting back tons of replies and they are uniform in the opinions being
expressed that Fido *will* survive, that it will be different than it
has been pre-Internet mania, i.e., smaller, tighter, less quantity of
mail flowing but more fun because most of the twits will be on the
Internet , that some people will have problems finding a local
board some of the time but can find other ways to access the Fidonet,
and that those dedicated to Fido need not worry about it going away.
So I'm not upset any more, and I guess we better drop this thread and
get back to Ensemble talk before Chris tells us to do so.
