I am happy to say that my TDE passed away in the night.

It took the judicious application of thumb to glass and a bunch of
smoothing, but I finally got rid of the edge problem. I had decided to mask
off the outer 1/4 inch, but some perverse stubbornness came over me the
other day and over the last three nights I have worked the edge with thumb
followed by tangential lap work and smoothing strokes to keep it all even.
This morning after letting it sit all night cooling, I peeked and the edge
is now good all the way out. Life is good. Now on to one of the parabolas I
know are hiding in there.
