Comes from years of working with HP-UX which didn't have bash for the longest time. We had to install it ourselves on the servers we used a few years back before they started migrating to Intel/Linux servers. I've used it, don't really have any comments on it other than (as you said) bash is the default on most Linux distros so it is the shell I started using and am therfore the most comfortable with. I've seen some script tricks that are easier (if not completely dependant) on using some other shell than bash but unless I have to use another shell I don't. ...
