What are the problems?  You might be able to use the ffind code from the
XMSGAPI sources (which after a lot of work is now basically portable to
anywhere) instead.  From memory you'll need the files osdep.h, dos32.c,
os232.c, patmat.h, patmat.c, unix.c & win32.c.  Just chop out the
non-ffind related parts.
