Any software is special software. Ask a windows user about tar or what
those *.gz files are. The definition of special or not depends on the point
of view.

It reads like you are riding horses and if that works you will try covered
wagon and carriages. That is fine if it is suitable to you. But don't
wonder if you draw attention to you.

Finally i do not see any reason to continue this discussion about compression.

If all your links support uncompressed files and transfer you don't have to
worry about any compression. If so, everthing is fine.
