BJ> Short answer: Yes...
BJ> Did you get both .tar.gz files and unpack them in the proper order
BJ> and location?
BJ> Have you run "make install" at least a second time? I've
found that
BJ> sometimes a second, or third, round is needed to get all the pieces.
BJ> Don't ask me why.... It only bites on the first install.
No, I never did run "make install" more than once. I'll let it
run a few times if need be..
BJ> I assume you ran the configure script followed by a "make build".
BJ> You could also now try the sequence "make clean",
"make build" and
BJ> then "make install".
BJ> Did you install max in the default location (/var/max)?
Yes I did, and I left the paths as is..
BJ> Are you running the makes from the same account that you plan to run
BJ> max on?
BJ> Does the account have complete control to create /var/max and
BJ> everything under that tree?
I ran it a few different ways I'm not sure now. I believe I ran
./configure and "make build" as my default user and "make
install"
as root to be sure it could create any needed directories. Next try
I'll use the bbs group/user.
BJ> Have you read the 00-readme, HACKING and other documentation that
BJ> came with the distribution?
I did now.. ;) In the 00-readme Wes makes mention of Bison/Yacc.
I may have to install that on Mandrake from the CD. That may
very well solve my problem. Thanks.. :)
