that mdmusrcr.inf file may not have the above connect string in it... the inf 
file is a simple ASCII text file... you can view it with any plain text 
editor or viewer...
if i was in your situation, i would remove the modem from the device manager, 
open a dos prompt and delete the DRVDATA.BIN and DRVIDX.BIN files from the 
windows\inf directory. shutdown and reboot the system... it will rebuild the 
driver database files and should autodetect the modem... the file appears to 
have the proper name (the CR at the end denotes the courier line) but i am 
not sure of the date of the latest... generally i use the one off the volumn 
3 cd that comes with the modems... vol 2 had some problems under some 
versions of win95 (win95 didn't want to locate the inf files in the root 
directory of the cd) so we have since stuck with the vol 3 stuff. i am unable 
to check exactly what the file should be as both my courier modems are on 
this OS/2 box but hopefully the information above will be of some assistance
