  Are you running in a window or full screen?  On my system, I find that
  the window actually gives a clearer font etc.   It is the border of
  the window that the icon and title appear.   If you are running in
  full screen mode, they do not appear.

  To toggle from full screen to window, try using ALT-Enter.

  Then decide which you like better.   If you like the window better,
  you can edit the properties for the shortcut icon to make it open in a
  window versus full screen.  Right click on the icon, select and left
  click on the word properties in the menu.   Then there is a tab that
  says screen, with a choice of full or window once you select that tab.
