Not really. Some, like me, do what they can. And some, like me again, refuse to
shop at Wally World - both because of their being sometimes (in some circles)
known as "China Mart" and because of their predatory business
practices ...
which have become particularly egregious since Sam Walton snuffed it. The bean
counters who took over the running of Sam's empire to keep his heirs in beer
and skittles are mostly to blame for their "business practices".

That has nothing directly to do with Wal-Mart and more to do with unscrupulous
businessmen on both sides of the pond who are out to maximise their profits -
and who don't care how bad they hose up the public for whom they get their
largess.

Odd Lots/Big Lots/Bay State etc. are "remainder" stores which buy
up product
that is "distressed" or just won't move off the shelves of the
company which
bought it originally. I have an Odd Lots in a strip mall near me - and I often
cruise the food section looking for bargains - like the crab meat that I
snagged 32 six and a half oz cans of for U$1/can. Worked fine in place of the
U$4.50/can stuff I had been using here a thousand miles from the supply of
fresh. I regularly find things like that - and if I can use it, I snap it up.
If I can't I don't under the theory that something cheap is not a bargain if
you don't have an application for it.

For non-remaindered stuff that I need from a mass merchandiser I use ShopKo or
K-Mart. The pricing on most stuff is very close to Wally World, I don't have to
drive as far to get there, I can park pretty close to the door (something
seldom possible at Wal-Mart) and the checkout lines are shorter. Over-all a
better deal for me - money wise and conscience wise.

ENJOY!!!
