BK>> And to protect the one next to you. As the combat commander said
BK>> in the radio interview last week, you don't fight for the
BK>> country, or the country's values, you fight for the guy to your
BK>> left and the guy to your right.
RW> That's the way I've always seen it. I'm about the guy next
RW> to me, my neighbor, my coleague on the job, etc. WHen the
RW> real stuff hits the spinning blade it's at that level, all
RW> the lofty phrases be damned.
...
RW>> OF course, looking at big picture, and a bit removed. Hard
RW>> to remember not be be gung ho when you've got the mother
RW>> yelling "but my baby's under there." SOmebody's got to
RW>> keep the clear thinking going on.
...
BK>>> Not only accomplish the mission, but show others what can be done.
RW>> YEp, Kathy's already been an example the teacher trots out
RW>> when somebody says "I'm not real able bodied, I'm not sure
RW>> I'm who you want in your program."
BK>> It's so nice to be important, isn't it.
RW> I like the fact the instructor of this course recognizes
RW> this, and would rather not one of us be the example, but ...
Reminds me of a fellow I used to work with. He was generally
useless, but we were discussing how anyone has some value. I
said he was a good bad example, of what drugs will do to you.
A woman who had known him for years said he was like that before
he started drugs.
Just goes to show you, even druggies can have other excuses.
AFAIK he was off them when he was working there, but they do
have lasting effects. We had several druggies working there, all
of them, come to think of it, connected to the former assistant
plant manager. Family connections.

RW> Yah, well first, we gotta retrieve the tripod and the
RW> antenna that goes on it from my wrecked van which is now at
RW> a junkyard somewhere no doubt. WE were oon our way between
RW> stop on our weekly errand into the city when we rolled the
RW> van. I'm still not sure what happened, but i"m typing
RW> sparingly as my right shoulder's bum. Been icepacking it
RW> most of the day.
Hope you got enough insurance to get back on the road soon. It's
hard enough in these times, without having your employment tied
up with an accident.
Or wasn't this your audio van?
