Hey Tony!

TL> True, though I have seen the odd accent character creeping into

I've only seen it regarding French Canadian words and English Canadian
portrayal on Canadian media. Mind you I don't get out much anymore.

TL> Even down here, it's been a slow, creeping process.

Australia? I don't see your name or Freeway BBS in the nodelist so I am
guessing by the nodenumber the BBS is displaying that it is indeed in
Australia, mainly because of the url displayed in the Origin line. Also note
that you are using offline software and am wondering what editor you are using.
It honours the utf-8 characters I am creating in your quotes so I am guessing
it isn't FTN compliant given FTN corruption in this matter.

 TL> This influence is European

Ah! Here it is Canadian albiet French Canadian which uses European characters.
Same with English Canadian except that as I have pointed out in an earlier
message it isn't restricted to the usual English characters (eg the Queen's
English). Beats me what is happening down under with respect to English other
than the words and phrases unique to Australia I have heard and seen over the
years. All of the written ones have used regular English characters. I have
yet to see otherwise coming from that direction.

Life is good,
Maurice

... Don't cry for me I have vi.
