"The IIAF's reluctance to ask U.S. specialists to check the F-4
for permanent damage and the decision to return the airplane
quickly to service suggests that the IIAF recognized that the
electrical problems reported during the UFO incident might have a
prosaic explanation, whose source was in the shortcomings of
Shahrokhi's own electrical-maintenance shop. But these
shortcomings would not be something they would be anxious to bring
to the attention of top IIAF officials in Tehran or the Iranian
press."
This above hypothesis is based on the lack of newspaper mention of
both F-4s having electric interference. This also ends up being
the primary reason why, Klass claims, the information was so
easily released to the public (which he used to support a further
claim that the US showed little interest in the matter, with as
discussed earlier is rubbish).
"One thing is evident: the second F-4 crew was clearly "rattled."
This is obvious from their report that the target on their radar
scope was at a range of twenty-five miles, but they were preparing
to fire an AIM-9 air-air missile WHOSE MAXIMUM RANGE IS ONLY A
COUPLE OF MILES. (The AIM-9 is an infared guided missile used for
close-in dogfight combat.) Thus their missile could not possibly
have reached the "target-blip" appearing on their radar."
Complete rubbish. The AIM-9 missile has a range far great the
2 (couple) miles. The actual range is around 10 miles. From the
account, it is obvious he attempted to fire at the second object
approaching him, which did move within the missile range.
"The foregoing does not, however, explain the first F-4 pilot's
report of a missile-like object coming at him from behind (from
the west) that passed overhead, nor the missile-like object
reported by the second F-4 pilot that seemed to come from the UFO
and which appeared to crash in the general vicinity of Tehran."
'Crash'!! Who said anything crash? Mooys report clearly states:
'The object appeared to come to rest gently on the earth and cast
a very bright light over an area of about 2-3 kilometers.'
No crash involved. The report states that the crew anticipated a
crash but were surprise by the gentle landing. There is an
obvious reason why Klass worded it this way. It is to support his
meteor explanation.
