It hit me that maybe my problem with running Maximus under linux using your
script for running telnet nodes, may be that I'm running from a terminal
window, su'ed to root and then the UID for maximus, under KDE under X. 
There are a couple of places that this could interfere with starting up the
needed maximus console window.  How are you running this script?
