Admittedly on a Pi3+, but I gave up with dhcpcd (hogs resources
(sometimes)) and used /etc/network/interfaces +
/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf which automatically uses
dhclient. Viz:
auto lo
auto eth0
#iface eth0 inet dhcp
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.23.1
netmask 255.255.255.0
auto wlan0
iface wlan0 inet dhcp
wpa-conf /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf
