Hello all, and much thanx to:
Frank Ramsey, Thomas Unzeitig, Alan Frayer, Harry Oldenhuis, Dave Shiner,
Mike Trip, Rich Wonneberger.

I put a FD0490 NIC in the pentium and with no hesitation the server was found.
I used irq3, b300, no DMA, old ipx and lsl (v1.00), ne2000.com, netx.exe
I'm trying newer ipxodi and a much "bigger" lsl (v2.2) and will keep playing
with different drivers for awhile. I wonder if there is a packet util that
helps to determine if some setups are faster or more reliable than others.
I guess there would be. More important would be if I could find a set that
could load in xms or ems.

So far, the NIC does not care that com2 (irq3) is enabled, (but dormant).
I have a feeling that there was some DMA problem before, but have no idea
how to troubleshoot that except by changing the card setting and/or pulling
other cards. This card allows you to not even pretend there is a DMA setting.
The 3C501 is a little weird about DMA.

If anyone wants more details about this thread let me know here or netmail.

I will be lurking for awhile :-)

Regards, and Thanx, Barry
