"Miles replied on August 7, sending a photocopy of the
unclassified Mooy memorandum, as well as several articles on the
incident that had been published in Tehran's two English-language
newspapers."
Klass then uses the information contained in these newspapers to
attempt to debunk the DIA report!! What a joke. Apart from the
newspaper depending on 2nd hand information (hand-feed from the
Iranian government). The DIA submissions were taken from
interviews with the original witness - pilot, air traffic
controllers (I would also like to hear his evidence for claiming
that the radar was down at a major airbase) and the general which
all represent 1st hand information. It is easy to see that the
newspaper headlines changed from a confirmed ufo sighting to a
hoax within 5 days (as shown to me by a friend) and putting
complete trust in them over the witness testimony is ludicrous.
Even Klass admitted this in his book:
"Despite this disclaimed from an unidentified "official source,"
it seems prudent to put more credence in the Mooy memorandum,
since it is based on notes taken during the debriefing of the
second F-4 crew,"
What Klass attempt to do next is amazing. He still accepts the
newspaper reports (which were constantly changing) and attempt to
find further evidence to support their versions of the event. For
example he makes the claim:
"Thus, the second F-4's long history of electrical-power-system
outages,involving an intermittent-type fault -- admittedly
difficult to isolate and fix -- offers a prosaic explanation to
the hypothesis that the aircraft was "jammed" by some emission
from a UFO.
AND THIS PROSAIC EXPLANATION ALSO WOULD EXPLAIN WHY THE MEHRABAD
AIRPORT'S RADIO SYSTEMS DID NOT EXPERIENCE ANY UFO INTERFERENCE."
Because the newspaper made no mention of interference in both
aircraft's electrical systems as the initial 1st hand Mooy report
states, he explains away the electrical disruption by electric an
electrical fault (obtain from tech reps which no one will ever
find). The second statement is again based on a lack of it being
mentioned in the Iranian paper (latter I will discuss the actually
statements, the first hand witness made on the show 'sightings').
