SW>hi ,
SW>i need some help
SW>1. Is there a limit to how many speakers you can run off one amp ?
It depends. If you run speakers connected in parallel the load
on will decrease, but if you run them in series the load will increase.
I guess it would be theoretically possible to run speakers in enough
series/parallel connections as to keep the load within a respectable
level and keep adding speakers as well.
SW>2. If there is a limit. would a larger amp be the answer ? as then
SW> there would be more power ?
Ah yes, the power consideration. Even if you did manage to keep
the load within limits, the number of speakers would effectively
decrease the amount of power each one saw. This could be likened to
poking holes in a water hose. The first hole will see maximum pressure,
but each new one you add will descrease the amount pressure. So, yes
you would eventually need an amp with more power.
