Depends on your state, here when making a left turn it's into the left most
lane, right turn into the right most lane. Then a lane change. Over the
years
a lot of states have adopted the "lane of choice" rule, meaning the lane you
turn into can be any unoccupied lane. Also there have been special rules
adopted for transit buses in regard to lane changes. As far at the Police
o,
they're supposed to be good just like the public, unless they can
ubstantiate
a emergency that procluded the following of the existing mv statutes.
