He may not be seeing the C:\ because it was a replaced by an Icon.  

As it is, I had problems finding it too.  But, I have cut&pasted 
between Win and DOS before!

I see those as part of a Tool Bar for that window at the top 
of the open DOS session.  It's fairly well explanatory as long 
as the tool bar is there.  

As for me, I find it easier to C&P in my DOS environment!
