This animal is called "лось" in Russian, and is translated as a "moose".

And this animal is called "олень" (there are many species of them) and is
generally translated as a "deer".

I can't tell for Swedes (obviously), but here in Russia, when a moose suddenly
appears on a road just in front of a car, we call that "внезапно лось".
