"Anyone" can't intercept an internet message.  Those few people in the
world that could wouldn't be bothered with snagging info for a lowly
account on my bbs that they could get legitimately for themselves
with no questions asked.  They have bigger frauds to perpetuate. Even
if the info were to be intercepted, no harm could come from someone
logging on and pretending to be someone else.
Miniscule risk aside, anyone who isn't comfortable with sending the
info via internet E-Mail is more than welcome to just call and
establish an account directly (but watch out for those guys who tap
the phone lines and monitor what you type in ).
