From: Garey Barrell
Subject: Re: [Drakelist] TR4-C low output
According to correspondence from Bill Frost, typical output power for
TR-4Cw is 200W on 80 / 40 / 20, 175W on 15. and 150W on 10.
The T-4 series typical output is 130W / 115W / 100W for same bands.
These are single-tone or CW output powers. TUNE mode reduces these levels
somewhat because of series resistance inserted in the screen lead of the
finals to limit off-resonance plate current.
A fan to exhaust hot air away from the final compartment will extend the
life of finals considerably, along with the life of other components in the
immediate area.
Possibly the AC-4 filter caps have low ESR (dried out) and the HV is less
than the 650 VDC it should be.
Also, are you tuning for maximum output or just to a specified plate
current? If you are just going by plate current, it is _very_ possible
that the meter shunt resistor has gone up in value and making your plate
meter read higher than actual plate current.
