Hey mark!
ml> do you have a way to detect if the type 2+ header contains 65535
Yes. It is $18 in the awk scan in the data vector or offset 38 in the raw
pkt which is a packed short. If needed the awk call could easily extract
and evalute it as well as trigger an event but then that would be beyond
the original goal of just determining the pkt type.
ml> this is to properly handle point systems which may be hiding
ml> behind a pointnet configuration on the boss node
That is beyond the original idea but offhand I am thinking that it is
extremely doable.
ml> there was a proposal or two for pure text PKTs
I saw one back in the 1990s that never went anywhere that I noticed.
ml> i don't remember if it was one of the type 3s or one of the type
ml> 10s
Is there any documentation of all the types?
ml> i have at least one here if you would like it for testing... it is
ml> from 1994
That would be excellent. :-)
Life is good,
Maurice
... Don't cry for me I have vi.
