-> I couldn't agree with you more about the changes making it all the
-> more worthwhile to keep returning to Disneyland, in my case, to
-> Magic Kingdom. What Disney Imagineers did when creating MK/DL was,
-> as you say, brilliant, by separating the 'kingdoms' so completely.
-> You walk through between any two and it's magically and instantly
-> changed! One moment you're in Adventure land, and the next it's
-> Frontier Land! At WDW, Epcot and D-MGM Studios aren't quite as
-> good with separating their areas. But, I think the separation at
-> MK/DL must have been due to space requirements with taking up much
-> more of the park land than they do at Epcot/D-MGM think they're
-> expanding MK's Mickyland with a Toontown area, but no about it.
-> It'll be fun to see all the new stuff come November we again!

Walt had some wonderful ideas. It would have been one thing to just
throw a park together with all varieties of rides all in the same area.
That would have been like the normal amusement parks of the day. Walt
decided to separate them based on themes - and it really worked quite
well! It worked so well that my wife went to Disneyland and never even
visited Fantasyland. She was with grown-ups (whatever that means) and we
all know that grown-ups aren't interested in Fantasyland. For her visits
they went on the "exciting" rides like Thunder mountain and Space
Mountain and all that. I guess she must have gotten to FL with the
Matterhorn, but other than that she was not even aware of it! I took her
there in 1993 and she had never been on Dumbo or the dark rides or
anything! sad, really.
I like to go spend great amounts of time in FL. I love the whole park at
DL, but FL is my fav. I spend lots of days in a row at DL and see all
areas of the park (the public ones, at least), but I spend pert of every
day there at FL. I can't get enough of "Alice In Wonderland" or "Dumbo's
Flying Elephants" or "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride" or any of the others. I have
been known to go on "Alice In Wonderland" four or five times in a row
and even video-tape it! The only thing I DON'T do in FL is ride those
cursed tea-cups from hades. Actually, they're cute and a great ride -
I'm just not into spinning.
Toon Town is excellent. They just put one in at Tokyo DL and are very
proud of it. I have seen maps and pictures and all that. They made
their's bigger than ours, but the buildings and everything look exactly
the same.
Anyway, I just love Disneyland....
