No, Thank you for the inspiration! Along those lines here's another 600KB of stuff to think about.. For reference, I should note all the images in this directory: http://lerch.no-ip.com/atm/SPPCCD were made from two different mirrors. #1 The file's with the word "Paul" in them are an 8" F/4.7 that I need to aluminize (Oh yea, plus the Inside/Outside.jpg images are from Paul's mirror as well) #2 All other files are from my 5" F/5 OBLATE 'should have been' Schwartzschild secondary with a b = +2.3 (and the center 40% is mostly spherical and probably is a lumpy as it looks) With that said here's something silly I tried. Paul's mirror, imaged inside/outside roc by 0.61" (Its silly because my star test sim shows you can't tell a 0.5 Strehl from a 1 Strehl parabolic mirror in this setup, but I tried anyways..) http://lerch.no-ip.com/atm/SPPCCD/Paul_in_061.jpg (13KB) http://lerch.no-ip.com/atm/SPPCCD/Paul_out_061.jpg (8KB) Another silly Idea I explored was on my 5" F/5, where after finding a Null http://lerch.no-ip.com/atm/SPPCCD/50%ZONE.jpg (44KB) I slid the CCD out from behind the knife, and Imaged from that point towards the mirror and past ROC in 0.050" increments and made the following animation: http://lerch.no-ip.com/atm/SPPCCD/Thru_ROC.avi (380KB) (Still files are also found in the directory labeled No-Knife-xxx where xxx is the amount of longitudinal travel towards the mirror. BTW, each image is a stack of 100 stills, since the raws were so dim and grainy) Anyways, food for thought, hope its interesting ;) James --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Email Gate (1:379/100) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 379/100 1 10/345 106/1 2000 633/267 |
