Hi all,
Some passing comments on The Learning Channels' currently running
alien week. Perhaps some here have already seen the shows
previously,or are currently viewing them. I am a bit dismayed at the
lack of research put into some of the material brought forth.
These shows are now building myths on top of myths, or rather
strengthening obvious hoaxes. One of course is my long favorite, Mr.
Lazar, who is now a "nuclear physicist" the word alleged has been
dropped, on one show. At least a previous show used the word alleged.
But tonight's, hosted by Scotty of Star Trek, was to say the least,
really taking us to where we should not go. The show portrayed a lot
of allegations as "facts",tossed out with what seems like no
conscience. I guess later on all can be retracted with the keywords,
"it was for entertainment only".
Fair enough, but the package is being brought forth currently as a
serious look, or rather "new evidence is being brought forth". Well,
I don't see any new evidence. What I did see was video footage that
was dismissed on other shows as a hoax, yet now shown as bonifide. I
find that pathetic. And the programs that did show the hoax were UFO
shows with other bonifide/unidentified footage. So the producers of
these shows know very little of this subject obviously. They are just
tossing out whatever footage they get their hands on, good or bad.
Actually one piece of video footage or rather it looks like color
8mm,supposed to be from California circa 1950's/60's I believe, shows
what looks like a back yard with trees etc, and this object wizzing
around erratically back and forth, sort of like a blurry cylindrical
shape. Amazing. Except for one thing. It does not take a NASA
engineer to recognize the flight characteristics of what is most
likely a bee or wasp etc... Well if IQ's have dropped that sharply
who am I to pass judgment.
On the good side, there were a few tidbits of interest in a couple
of shows so far. Mexico 91,seems to be the case of choice so far.
Mirage does seem to be the skeptic's first choice viewpoint,
reasonable, except it was photographed from different angles and
distances(different towns), which may make the mirage concept weak.
Well there are a few shows to go, I hope the producers at least put
some consideration and research into the next shows. Or am I about to
watch the goodyear blimp over Phoenix :)...
I hope not, well enough commentary from moi, beam me up Mr. Scott...
Happy Trails,
Fred.
