Pros:
It's okay to start with.  Reasonably fast.  Tolerable debugging ability.
Cons:
It doesn't generate the fastest code.  Has few optimizations.  Is only a
16 bit compiler.
But, yes, it's okay to start with.
It does have a problem when it deals with huge pointers.  If you
increment it, it may not always properly handle them.  Generally though,
you aren't going to run into it.
