-> You mentioned that you have ADHD, does this mean you still exhibit the
-> hyperactivity?
Yes, but not in the same ways as children.
-> It would be odd as I have found that most of those that I
-> have met with this function have lost their hyperactivity.
Well, the hyperactivity in alot of adults is less noticeable. As a
hyperactive
adult instead of getting up out of a chair during a movie and running around
like a lunatic, I tend to bounce my leg, or cross and uncross my legs, tap on
furniture, and stuff like that.
-> I have had ADD/ADHD for a long time and can relate to you in your misery.
-> I found an
-> interesting read called,"You mean I'm not LAzy, Stupid, or Crazy?!". It is
a
-> book written for adults with ADD and I have found that alot of this
material
-> speaks true to our abilities and handi-caps. I would be interested in
-> hearing more from you, and learning about the trials of others who grew up
-> in an unsupportive environment with ADD. Till then, I remain....
I have read the book, it is very well written. Umm as far as unsupportive,
boy
that is true, since no one was really aware of ADD/ADHD at the time, there
as
no help available. Then to make matters worse, my parents didn't really pay
much attention to what I was up to, as long as I stayed out of trouble.
Needless to say I didn't do much homework, since they never bothered to find
out if I had any , and so on. Once I got into college though, I found it
uch
easier. Everything seemed to click into place, and I ended up graduating
ith
a 3.7 GPA. Don't know why, it was easier, maybe the fact that I learned to
focus my attention a little better, or that the college professors were much
better in keeping the students involved in the lectures and lessons, even
though I still didn't do much homework :-). If you have any other questions
would be happy to answer them for you.
