Is it possible to allow users to access the internet through the same
dial-up connection on the Novell 4.11 that is used for Groupwise? If so,
how do I go about setting up rights to this? And on the client
workstations, what address do I put in for the default gateway and for the
DNS (LAN IP of the Novell server is my guess)? Do I have to assign an IP
address to the GWIA in order to do this? I would like to accomplish this
without the use of any third party software if possible. The current setup
uses GW 5.2.2. and now works fine for e-mail (sending & receiving) thanks
to users of this and other newsgroups.
Another item of curiosity is that I can ping any IP address from the
client machine, but I can't get it to resolve any hostnames. For instance,
if I type in "tracert 208.129.195.64" I don't have any problems. If,
however, I type in "tracert www.dmcwest.com", which is the same IP, I get a
"unable to resolve system name" message. From the Novell server
www.dmcwest.com will get resolved to 208.129.195.64 when I try to ping it.
This could be part of my problem, but it is not all of it. If I try to
access an IP address from the browser, I get a "Could not connect to server"
message. I have the browser set to use a socks server at port 1080 and have
specified the IP address of the LAN card on the Novell 4.11 server.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
